Bhawanipatna

Tehsil Bhawanipatna, District Kalahandi (Bhawanipatna), Odisha, Bharat

This is the town of Goddess Manikeswari. Sorrounded by hills & green forests. It is a beautiful valy. It is the distict head quarter of Kalahandi Distt. Adjecent to Bhawanipatna the Karlapaat century is there. There is also Subhadra Kshetra at Jugsaipatna near Karlapaat. Bhawanipatna is also famous for various pic-nic sports like Jakham, The Phurli jharan water fall etc.

Bhawanipatna the headquarter of Kalahandi District, is a town of numerous temples dedicated to different deities of Hindu pantheon. Named after its presiding deity ‘Bhawani-Shankar’, it is the most convenient base for touring various places of interest in the district and the nearby district of Nawapara.
Maa Manikeswari is the main source of inspiration. Bhawanipatna is world famous for its unique and enchanting "Chattar Jatra" of goddess Manikeswari .
